First Class Honors Vets

November 19, 2007

First Class has been busy so far this year. In September, we presented the new teachers with “Welcome to PHS” packages which included Tiger T-shirts and mouse pads.  The United Way received $60, the proceeds from our October activity which was selling caramel apples. We also decorated the cafeteria for Halloween. On November 9, area veterans were treated to coffee and doughnuts in honor of Veterans Day.  Several students talked with the veterans about their war experiences. At 7:50 am the attending veterans raised the flag in front of the high school while many students and faculty recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

At 8 am the Star Spangled Singers sang the National Anthem, the Pledge was recited again, and Ashley Wagner from First Class read a story about the 11th Hour over the school speaker system.  First Class also gives each PHS student a birthday coupon near his/her birthday that is good for a free treat from the cafeteria.  Upcoming December activities will include decorating the school for the holidays and dipping pretzels to sell in order to raise money for a local charity.
