Ready! Set! Ignite!
One hundred thirty-seven high school careers were ignited on Monday, August 16th! Ignite day was part of the new freshmen mentoring program called Ignition that is being implemented this year at PHS. Ignite replaced the traditional freshmen orientation day with various high-energy, team building activities. Much of the morning was spent on the school’s front lawn on a low ropes course where students had to work together in small teams to accomplish certain challenges. The remainder of the day, freshmen toured the school, participated in small-group activities, and took care of registration.
Ignition will continue throughout the year as older students mentor the freshmen during the high school’s new 3D period. The overall goal of Ignition is to help freshmen make a positive transition into high school.
