PHS Special Olympians Compete

Special Olympics was in full swing at Princeton High School on May 3rd. PHS athletes competed in the annual Special Olympics Spring Games held at Hall High School. Over 200 athletes competed on a day with less than ideal weather conditions. In the 50 Meter Run Daniel Rowe won a Silver Medal and Mike Sedlacek won a Bronze medal. In the 100 Meter Run Jerry Young won a Silver Medal. In the 100 Meter Walk Kruti Patel and Lani Davis both won Gold Medals. In the 400 Meter Run, Bryanna Lehn won a Gold Medal. In the Standing Long Jump, Chase Kupferschmid won a Bronze Medal. In the Running Long Jump, Jerry Young won a Gold Medal while Tyler Lawson won a Silver Medal.
In the Shot, Bryanna Lehn won a Gold Medal. In the Softball Throw Michael Sedlacek won a Gold Medal. In the Tennis Ball Throw Chase Kupferschmid and Daniel Row won Gold Medals, Kruti Patel, Tyler Lawson and Lani Davis won Silver Medals. In the 10 and 25 Meter Assisted Race Paul Saletzki won a Gold Medal. In the 30 and 50 Meter Wheelchair Slalom, Alexis Fox won a Gold Medal. All Gold Medal winners will compete in the State Games on the campus of Illinois State University June 13-15. The coaches for the PHS Special Olympics Track team include Pat Marquis, Noreen McConnell, Carol Madsen and Tricia Mussleman.
