Special Olympics are Champions

Princeton High School Special Olympic Team competed in the Bryon District Basketball Tournament this past weekend. (January 26 & 27) The Tigers were victorious over the Rock Falls Lee County Dukes with a final score of 45-24. Alan Wolbrecht led the Tigers with 26 points, followed by Martice Vernon with 13. In the second game, the Tigers defeated Oregon Village of Progress 52-26. Alan Wolbrecht again was high scorer with 18 and Brandi Kirk had 10 points. The team received a first place trophy in their division and all athletes on the team were awarded gold medals. Team members included: Bryanna Lehn, Martice Vernon, Lani Davis, Jerry Young, Brandi Kirk, Tom Walton, Daniel Rowe, Tyler Lawson, Mike Sedlacek, Meaghan Duffy, Chase Kuperschmidt, Jerry Young, and Tom Walton. Sam Sorcie was manager for the Tigers. The Special Olympic Tigers are coached by Andy Puck, assisted by Pat Marquis and Noreen McConnell. The Tigers will now compete at Illinois State University March 15th and 16th at State Competition.
