PHS Students win Bureau County Teens of the Month

Laura Krabill and Aaron Kaufmann were awarded Bureau County Teens of the Month at a luncheon at the Princeton Elks Lodge #1461 on Friday, January 18, 2008. Nominated students from other Bureau County high schools were represented, also.
Senior Laura Krabill is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Elvin Krabill. While at Princeton High School she has earned a perfect grade point average and has been named as an Illinois State Scholar. Laura holds the offices of senior class vice-president and vice-president of the Student Council. She is a two year member of the National Honor Society. Additionally, Laura is currently the concertmaster of the Illinois Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra and the soprano I section leader in the PHS Concert Choir. Laura’s athletic talents include three years of high school soccer and four year of tennis where she advanced to the state level this fall. She has found time to volunteer at Menno Haven Camp and participate in mission trips. Her plans are to attend Goshen College and major in music. She hopes to play tennis at the college level.
Aaron is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Phil Kaufmann. He is an honor roll student, two year member of the National Honor Society, and an Illinois State Scholar. Aaron serves as the president of the PHS Student Council, president of the PHS Band, and president of the PHS Choir. Aaron has been part of PHS theater productions each year and currently serves as a Thespian Board Member. Aaron devotes many hours to his interest in choir and musicals both at PHS and in the community. He is Scholastic Bowl Captain and the PHS mascot. In November 2007 Aaron earned the distinction of Eagle Scout. In addition to his community service through Boy Scouts, he has volunteered at Menno Haven Camp. Aaron will attend Goshen College in the fall of 2008.
