PHS Illinois State Scholars

Seventeen students at Princeton High School have been named 2008-2009 State Scholars by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC). The State Scholar program recognizes Illinois high school students for outstanding academic achievement. “These students should be extremely proud of their accomplishments. The Commission congratulates them and wishes them the best as they continue they education,” proclaimed Larry Matejka, ISAC’s Executive Director. Students ranking in the top ten percent of the state’s 139,500 high school graduating seniors have been named State Scholars. Selection is based on ACT and/or SAT I test score results and class rank at the end of the junior year. While the program does not provide a monetary award, the designation as a State Scholar can be listed on applications for college admission and scholarships.“Princeton High School is extremely pleased with the efforts of these young men and women. Being named a State Scholar is a great accomplishment and we are very proud of each of these students,” stated Brian Church, Princeton High School Guidance Director.

 

Princeton High School Illinois State Scholars includes: Kirsten Andersen plans on attending a four-year university to major in Musical Theater. Patrick Brand plans to attend the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign majoring in Electrical Engineering. Annalise Eckberg is considering Purdue University and the University of Illinois, Urbana- Champaign in Pre-Pharmacy. Daniel Hartsough will attend a four-year university to major in Pre-Medicine.

Matthew Holland will attend a four-year university to study business.  Elizabeth Hult is considering Augustana College and the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign to pursue a degree in English and secondary education. Kelly Johnson hopes to attend the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and major in Biology. Janey Joiner plans to attend Knox College majoring in English. Aaron Kaufmann will attend Goshen College and is undecided on his major. Laura Krabill will attend Goshen College for violin performance with a minor in peace and justice. Adrienne Kunkel plans to attend Augustana College or the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign to study music. Wyatt Lind plans to attend the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign to pursue a degree in sports management. Audra Miller will attend Illinois Valley Community College and then will transfer to a four-year university to pursue a degree in Pharmacy. Lucy Nelson plans to attend the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign or Augustana College to study sociology or psychology. Kenneth Saunders plans to attend the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and study engineering. Cayla Savage plans to attend either Bradley University or the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and major in Biology or Pre-Dentistry.Madelyn Stephens will attend Olivet Nazarene University and major in Math Education.
